Instagram Post Size 2026
Updated November 2026
Best size
1080 × 1350 px
4:5 portrait · biggest space in the feed
In 2025 Instagram switched the profile grid from squares to taller 3:4 tiles, and you can now post at 3:4 too. For most posts, 4:5 still takes up the most room in the feed. Just keep important things away from the very top and bottom, since the grid trims a little there.

Tips
- Use 1080 × 1350 px (4:5) for feed posts. It fills the most screen space.
- Want your grid to look exactly like your posts? Use 1080 × 1440 px (3:4), which matches the grid tiles.
- For stories and reels use 1080 × 1920 px, and keep text out of the top and bottom 250 px where buttons cover it.
- Instagram compresses uploads, so starting at exactly 1080 px wide gives you the most control over quality.
